Contact-free fat reduction: how Vanquish ME works
Stubborn regional fat is the last fat to respond to a calorie deficit. Vanquish ME approaches those areas with selective radiofrequency, without touching the skin at all. Below: how the device works, why the 360-degree applicator matters, and what it does not do.
What does selective radiofrequency mean?
You do not get to choose where your body takes fat from. That is why, even while losing weight, areas such as the abdomen, the hips or the inner thigh can lag behind disproportionately. Regional applications exist for exactly that reason.
Radiofrequency is a form of energy that heats tissue from within. What sets Vanquish ME apart is that it delivers this energy selectively rather than indiscriminately. Fat tissue has a different electrical resistance from skin, muscle and connective tissue, and the device tunes its energy to that difference.
In practice this means the heat gathers in the fat layer, not in the surrounding tissue. The targeted fat cells are broken down and the body clears them through its own elimination routes. The skin’s surface is not broken, and nothing is introduced from outside.
This is also why the result is not visible in the mirror the moment a session ends. Clearing the broken-down fat takes time; the change appears over weeks, as the sessions progress. What speeds it up is not the device itself but the eating and movement habits you keep during the same period.
The 360-degree applicator that never touches the skin
Most regional slimming devices work from a single point with an applicator that touches the skin. The applicator is moved across the area, and the energy acts wherever it was delivered.
With Vanquish ME the applicator never touches the skin. It sits a few centimetres above the area and wraps all the way around it. If the abdomen is being worked, it is not only the belly but the whole waist circumference; if an arm is being worked, the entire circumference of the arm is inside the field at once.
- You lie on your back throughout the session; no pressure is applied to your skin.
- Because the applicator does not touch the skin, no friction, irritation or marking is expected on the surface.
- For clients with sensitive skin, working without contact is a clear advantage.
- Abdomen, waist, hips, inner thigh, legs and arms are the areas worked with this applicator.
Why the result is even rather than patchy
The concern we hear most often about regional fat applications is this: one area slims down while the area right next to it stays as it was, leaving an uneven look. With systems that work by contacting a single point, that is a natural risk of the design.
The 360-degree applicator solves the problem from the start. Instead of concentrating on one point, the radiofrequency energy spreads evenly across a wide field, so the fat cells in the area are affected at the same time and to a similar degree. The device was thought through in terms of "the circumference of the area" rather than "a single spot".
The result is an even reduction in fat. A dent in one place, a hardened patch next to it or an irregularity you can feel with your hand are not expected; the area slims while keeping its own line. In regional slimming, keeping the shape intact matters at least as much as the centimetres lost.
Covering a wide field in one pass is also what sets the session length: 20 to 45 minutes depending on the area.
What a session is like
You lie down, the applicator is positioned over the area to be worked, and the session begins. What you feel is a spreading warmth. Pain is not expected; if the warmth becomes uncomfortable, it is adjusted during the session.
The session runs 20 to 45 minutes depending on the area. When it ends you get dressed and leave — there is no downtime, and you can go back to work, to the gym and to your daily routine the same day.
No bruising, swelling or marking is expected afterwards. Because nothing is done to the skin’s surface, there is no area left needing aftercare.
The number of sessions is usually between 4 and 8. The exact number is set by the area, the fat thickness and the measurements taken at the first consultation; it varies from person to person, and the plan is updated against interim measurements if needed.
What Vanquish ME does not do
It is not a weight-loss method. It reduces fat cells in the area worked; it does not manage the number on the scale. That side of it belongs to the nutrition programme and to regular movement.
It does not target the appearance of cellulite either. Cellulite has more to do with the connective tissue under the skin than with fat. For that we plan X-Wave, which uses acoustic shockwaves to boost circulation, support lymph flow and soften hardened connective tissue, or EmTone, which delivers monopolar radiofrequency and shockwaves at the same time and addresses all five root causes of cellulite at once. EmTone runs 4 to 8 sessions; the manufacturer’s data reports an 89% satisfaction rate.
Skin laxity and skin quality are a separate heading. EXION uses monopolar radiofrequency together with AI-assisted ultrasound to prompt the skin to produce its own hyaluronic acid, its own collagen and its own elastin; nothing is introduced from outside, and it can be worked across 23 different zones. Exilis Ultra 360 delivers radiofrequency and ultrasound simultaneously; the manufacturer’s studies report up to 154% more collagen.
Muscle mass is not Vanquish ME’s field either. EMSCULPT NEO applies radiofrequency and HIFEM energy at once; according to the manufacturer’s studies it delivers up to 30% less fat and up to 25% more muscle, and produces around 20,000 muscle contractions in a 30-minute session. Around 4 sessions are planned, 4 to 10 days apart; the large applicator is used on the abdomen, buttocks and legs, the small one on biceps, triceps and calves. EMBODY, in a single 30-minute session, focuses on increasing muscle density and volume.
The best outcome usually comes from a combination, but which device suits you is decided after the measurements. Results vary from person to person and are never guaranteed. If we conclude at the first consultation that it is not right for you, we will say so plainly.
At RL the process starts with measurement
Vanquish ME is not a plan on its own, it is part of one. The process starts with a first consultation: a dietitian measures your body mass index and your body composition using bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA).
A personal nutrition programme is then prepared, and a specialist decides which device — or which combination — suits you. Throughout the process the measurements are repeated every week with the dietitian.
One reason for measuring weekly is to set expectations correctly. In the first weeks the drop is fast because the body is using its glycogen stores. After that the body settles into a new balance and the scale can stay flat for a while even if you keep the same habits; this is called a plateau, and it is normal. Getting past it means looking at several things at once:
- Do not go below 1,200 calories a day.
- Raise your protein intake.
- Increase the frequency and the intensity of exercise.
- Look at sleep and at stress management — both show up in the measurements.
We cover the nutrition side separately: plateaus, the calorie deficit and the “cheat day” question are all in how to get past a weight-loss plateau.
